  • South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD, Land Use and Land Cover Change Detection Analysis, The study on Brookings, SD (2001-2020) shows significant urban expansion driven by population growth, reducing agricultural and vegetative areas. Stable water resources were observed, but environmental degradation, like shrubland turning into barren areas, raised concerns. However, reclamation efforts showed success in restoring some barren lands. Key findings emphasize the need for sustainable urban planning, soil health restoration, and environmental conservation to balance development with ecological health-08/01/24.
  • Tillage Mapping, The study on tillage mapping in Brookings, SD, highlights a shift from conventional to conservation tillage practices (no-till and reduced-till), improving soil health and reducing erosion. SAVI enhanced classification accuracy, identifying erosion-prone areas in central and southern regions. No-till practices were scattered but showed potential for carbon sequestration and sustainable agriculture. Findings support precision agriculture and targeted conservation strategies for sustainable land management-08/01/24.
