  • As an instructional coach, I collaborate with teachers on their student-learning goals
  • I have conducted coaching rounds with teachers and teacher teams in which we identify a goal for students, collect pre-assessment data, and make a plan for instruction, and continually collecting assessment data throughout the learning goal to adjust instruction as needed until students meet the goal
  • I have supported teachers in their goals through modeling lessons, co-teaching, finding resources, and providing information on instructional practices
  • And have worked to be a partner with teachers, asking questions, listening, and ensuring that teachers are in the lead for all decisions in their classroom
  • Another part of my job includes leading professional development
  • I have attended a training focused on leading PD through Elena Aguilar's The PD Book
  • This has helped me develop and communicate a clear purpose for Professional Development, create agendas, design activities, and engage sta in a variety of ways to support their learning
  • I have also facilitated meetings including designing and updating weekly agendas and guiding teams through a process to determine roles, group agreements and team agreements
  • In team meetings I have worked to always keep in mind the partnership principles of equality, choice, voice, dialogue, praxis, reflection, and reciprocity to encourage collaborative conversations
  • Furthermore, I have partnered with my principal around developing school-wide targets and goals
  • This process has included creating a system and calendar for data-collection, disseminating data, and sharing data with sta to receive their feedback on the direction our goal should take based on the data
  • My principal and I also partnered to use the data and sta feedback to design a SMART goal including plans on how to implement the goal including professional development needs throughout the year and a calendar for PD and data collection
  • Finally, I have partnered with our district coach and other building coaches to design an Instructional playbook to be used by all teachers in our district
  • As a part of this process, we collected data and input from all elementary teachers, organized the data, and created a plan
  • Our instructional playbook contains research-based instructional practices that can be used by all teachers
  • For each instructional practice we created a one-page document that described the research behind the strategy, how to use it, and additional resources.
