Veronica Pou

In my role, I address students' social well-being and psychological challenges by providing information and counseling, assisting students and parents in problem-solving, making referrals to other resources, and helping students cope with the changes brought by the pandemic. My responsibilities include:

• Providing targeted support to individuals and selective services to identified groups
• Delivering counseling with a focus on mental health
• Conducting parent workshops
• Making necessary referrals for health and professional services and access to public benefits
• Offering workshops and support to school staff to educate them on mental health matters and students' social-emotional needs
• Communicating and coordinating with other adults who may be supporting these students
• Performing related work
• Serving as an Attendance Leader

I offer outpatient behavioral health and substance abuse services for children, families, and young adults, focusing on their psychological, behavioral, developmental, and social well-being.

 *Coordinates the daily functions of the Social Services Department and reports to the Administrator

· Develop policies, and procedures, to assure compliance with state and federal regulation

· Continually prioritize job responsibilities and adjust to paperwork and demands to facilitate an effective Social Services Program.

· Maintains contact with staff from all departments including the Director of Admission, Director, and Assistant Director of Nursing to remedy the diverse problems of the residents.

· Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information according to facility policy and HIPPA guidelines.

· Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, & evaluate treatment plans.

· Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress concerning treatment goal

· Assist families to understand and cope with the resident’s diagnosis and change in condition and status

· Conduct initial admission & psychosocial assessment for sub-acute & long-term 448-bed skilled nursing facilities.

· Perform crisis intervention, adjustment counseling, conflict resolution, education, advocacy & end-of-life issues

*  Provide instructional assistance to special education students.

· Assist students with especially challenging assignments.

· Monitor and record a student’s academic performance & behavior to meet needs.

· Work closely with the teacher to prepare lesson plans & adapt materials to ensure student progress

· Monitor students for triggers & hazards to intellectual or physical disabilities.

 *Presented subject matters to students under the direction and guidance of a lead teacher.

· Planned, prepared and developed various teaching aids such as bibliographies and charts.

· Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help students master assignments and
  reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.

· Reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher, assist the student in their understanding & comprehension of the material.

· Uses a second language & provides cultural experience to assist students with bilingual needs

· Assist students in the development of appropriate social behavior

· Performs a variety of behavior management and behavior shaping functions

· Provided translation in the parent-teacher conference

· Assist students experiencing learning difficulty, explain errors, answer questions & control behaviors
