  • Nominate as a teacher of the year in the state of IL.
  • Designed, conducted, and delivered a well received professional development workshop in the state of IL for the KIDS state conference on "Oracy" in the classroom.
  • Targeted Development - Met with parents and guardians to discuss children's progress and to determine priorities and resource needs. Many parents deal with Special circumstance such as disabilities from low IQ, LD, Autism, ADHD?ADD, ODD behaviors and a few others. I have sat down countless times, kept an open communication through parent Square, email, and providing my own phone numbers to these parents to provide an insight of possible tactics to help at home. This was not a job requirement but an additional support I thought was beneficial to the parents. For example, during the shut down I acquired 58,000 dollars t=from philanthropist to create a classroom away from stone and motor to facilitate learning from home. All monies were distributed through Donors choose, delivered to school and I delivered to the homes. For example, I created a sign language "classroom' at home for the parents and child of my non verbal, wheelchair bound student to further his studies. This is just one way that I may be able to exhibit the lengths I will go to establish an adequate environment to reinforce learning.

I was recruited by the Austin School board while working as a Paraprofessional in Round Rock ISD to become the Spanish Special Education Lead teacher in the middle of the year. Having experience and EL, I was a good recruitment for the position. Texas has a law that if any special education students' native language is Spanish, they must hire a "Spanish" special Education teacher. I was honored to be requested and both HR's spoke and moved me quickly into the position I efficiently and accurately held over 32 case loads by myself. An accomplishment that I am truly proud of!
