Environmental Engineer experienced in pipeline operations, environmental compliance, spill response, and impact mitigation. Delivered effective solutions through a diverse background in engineering, wildlife conservation, and field-based environmental research.
During my internship at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, I supported marine biologists in their coastal fisheries research and conservation projects. I conducted surveys using gill net, bag seine, and trawling equipment to collect and analyze biological data from marine species while also gathering habitat and environmental information. My role involved operating on research vessels as well as at public boat ramps to ensure accurate data entry for state databases, which is crucial for ongoing conservation efforts.
During my internship at the National Spill Control School, I engaged in comprehensive emergency response training that emphasized marine oil spill preparedness and hazardous materials management. I actively participated in spill response exercises and shoreline assessments, which provided me with valuable insights into environmental incident response operations. My efforts culminated in earning several certifications, including OSHA/RCRA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT), 40-Hour Marine Oil Spill Response and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Safety Training.
During my internship at Texas State Aquarium, I supported animal care staff in various husbandry activities for birds and mammals. I prepared diets and supported feeding schedules, maintained habitats and exhibits, and observed animal behaviors to ensure their health and welfare. Additionally, I assisted with enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors and engaged with the public to support conservation education.
