A Simplified Acquisition of a Base Engineering Requirements (SABER) contract. It is generally used for simple construction projects that require minimum design. SABER contracts use a unit priced book such as RS Means to price each task order.

Generally, a contract is awarded for a five-year period with one base year and four option years. This contract each project is awarded with a task order. The size of the contract will depend on the base and location. Each SABER contract can be valued anywhere from $1 Million to $100 Million dollars.
