Workforce Development Strategies
- Innovative regional workforce board focused on increasing the economic vitality of the area by improving the skill levels of job seekers and developing strategies to meet business workforce needs
- Tasked with implementing the mission and strategic goals of the organization as set by the Board of Directors
- Administered a $3.5 million dollar budget along with grant management and fund development to generate the funding necessary to meet the workforce requirements of the six county region
- Attained federal designation as an Economic Development District, and subsequently integrated economic development and workforce development at the regional level that served as a national model
- Spearheaded several significant initiatives including Maturity Matters to address the needs of an aging workforce; partnered with the Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology at Ball State University and the Retirement Research Foundation of Chicago to identify strategies and implement programs to address needs
- Led the formation of a regional Healthcare Alliance with healthcare providers and educators to promote health and wellness to the aging population
- Established a Career Choice Taskforce to develop the Top 50 Critical Occupations Guidebook for North Central Indiana so that community resources, education and training were allocated to where jobs were most plentiful
- Facilitated the writing and award of a $15 million Department of Labor grant and generated $40 million in other grants along with foundation awards and gifts to improve the skill level of job seekers to boost worker incomes.
