I have worked for Camping World for just over 14 years. My most recent roll was formally known as a parts and service director before corporate added a new roll and kept me on as a service manager. The new roll was called fixed Ops Director, which was more less equivalent to a general manager position.
As a service manager/ service director, I monitored and managed customer relations and the service repairs that came to the counter to the service advisors. I managed accounts receivables, aged repair orders internal, external, and warranty. I also was responsible to assist in sales force cases pertaining to service. I oversaw the operations manager, as well as the service advisors.
I worked closely with the GM as a team to take care concerns and come up with solutions and ideas to better our dealership.
As an operations manager/ shop foreman, I dispatched all repair orders to the shop. Prior to dispatching, I would look at the repair orders and dispatch to the skill level of the technician. Often I would challenge technicians with work outside there element to better round there abilities. I would differentiate between waiters, warranty, and special jobs that needed prompt attention. I managed the work flow of the shop based off of the service advisors promise dates and date of the repair orders. I managed tech efficiency and hours being billed vs. hours on premises in order to keep ACL down. I worked close with the service manager to keep the repair orders from aging and satisfying customer expectations before they would become a concern.
I also worked close with the service advisors to make sure there next action dates were on track with the expected time to be dispatched into the shop.
As a Rv service technician I diagnosed and repaired all appliances pertaining to all recreational vehicles. I performed new and used PDI's as well as perform warranty repairs. I would often communicate with tech support and other resources to help diagnose and get directions for complicated issues. As a technician I would maximize my billed time by multitasking my workload. I would upsell and create my own work by utilizing courtesy inspection. I would often add services such as water heater, furnace, air conditioner, and bearing packs. Often I would perform roof jobs from the inspections that I would perform, creating revenue and hours.
As a technician I also was tasked to perform installations. I would often perform satellite, 5th wheel hitches, breaking systems, washer dryers, etc.
