• Observed scheduled and emergent surgeries on small animals and exotic species.
• Shadowed three veterinarians and observed different specialties such as exotics, dental, and acupuncture.
• Assisted vet techs with vitals, blood samples, anal gland expression, and initial fecal evaluations.

• Cleaned and disinfected exam areas, surgical equipment, and kennels to prevent diseases and control odors.
• Observed surgeries and administration of anesthetics during operations.
• Assisted senior staff with blood analyses and physical assessments.
• Collected patient biopsies and blood samples for laboratory analysis.
• Observed positioning animals for diagnostic imaging such as x-rays and scans.

• Collected quantitative data (such as food consumption per day, vitals, and possible changes in feeding schedules and/or amounts.
• Provided deworming medication to lemurs, kangaroos, and various species of exotic birds.
• Studied mating behaviors of various species of Hornbills and European White Storks during specified mating season.
• Observed and reported daily behaviors of animal residents.
• Learned about how to design diets based on species, health, age, and previous health conditions.
• Helped design and build enclosures designed for the spacial and environmental requirements of each resident.
• Participated in occasional animal restraints for medication administration (small mammals, large and small birds, small reptiles).

• Worked with patients dealing with various ailments such as checking the structural and well being of the animal.
• Shadowed the doctor while they evaluated the functioning of neuromusculoskeletal system and spine using systems of chiropractic diagnosis in canines, felines, and horses. (completed these hours while in town during breaks in undergraduate and post grad)

• Kept pens, stalls and farm equipment clean and sterilized to support animal wellbeing.
• Examined animals for signs of sickness and overall health.
• Acted as an ocasional volunteer for several years to care for horses and teach children how to ride and care for them.
