Vida Davidović is is a playwright, dramaturg, fiction writer, and screenwriter. She was born a Serbian in Bosnia and Hercegovina and later moved to Belgrade, Serbia where she attended the University of Arts and received both a B.A. in Playwriting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and an M.A. in Theory of Dramatic Arts. Her plays, Celebrations, The Black Sheep, and Brooklyn and Cats in Containers, were performed in Bosnia and Serbia. For her play, "Small Wars and Zara Fitting Rooms", she received the Sterija's Award in 2022, and in 2024, she received the Special Award for a Dramatic Text at the 23rd International Festival of BH Drama and the award for the Best Dramatic Text at the 43rd Theatre Games of Bosnia and Hercegovina. She is also a published author of the novel Mučnina: o neodrastanju by Kontrast izdavaštvo (in free translation Nausea: Anti - Bildungsroman, published by Kontast Publishing), which was short-listed for NIN Book of the Year Award. She came to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a Fulbright scholarship.
She is interested in writing about womanhood, the female relationship with the body, war trauma affecting generations born after the events in the Balkans, and female sexuality in Serbia, formed by both Western and Eastern discourses. She is also interested in eating disorders and their correlation with sexual trauma. She lives in a few locations, but Belgrade will always be in her heart. Also, she is often California dreaming.
