Work History

Senior Research Scientist/Manager

University of Chicago
2010 - 2023
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams from UCSF and the University of Toronto to establish and scale a high-throughput recombinant antibody platform (Recombinant Antibody Network)
  • Supported strategic partnerships with Celgene and Bristol Myers Squib, contributing to projects that secured multi-million dollar investments for antibody-based cancer therapies
  • Led phage display selections from hundreds of antigens to generate thousands of antibodies. Many of these high affinity binders were distributed to partners such as Absolute Antibody Ltd. for open use to facilitate research to other industries and academic entities
  • Managed a team of over 25 associates as well as maintaining efficient inventory oversight, procurement, and budget control to maintain seamless laboratory operations
  • Built a robust robotic automation platform that integrated a liquid handler, colony picker, incubator, plate hotel, PCR, plate readers , etc. This increased our output 100x and more importantly, it aided in reducing the error that can happen while doing these experiments manually

Molecular Biologist

Argonne National Laboratory
2007 - 2010
  • Project lead for a program to characterize core metabolic enzymes in a variety of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Developed methods and ligand libraries for implementation of a microwell plate-based fluorescence thermal shift assay for detection of ligand-protein binding.
  • Developed strategies for in vitro high-throughput cloning and production of proteins from Aspergillus niger (Zebrafish) in Pichia pastoris . Characterized a 96-well plate-based cDNA library of ~ 800 clones using a novel computational tool for coding sequence characterization.
  • Produced and characterized over 100’s bacterial and yeast expression clones for various classes of proteins from Shewanella oneidensis MR-1, including two-component system domains, conserved hypotheticals, transcription regulators, periplasmic cytochromes, and enzymes.
  • Analyze data and assist in the preparation of manuscripts.
  • Trained and supervised summer intern students in laboratory techniques and project experimental design.
