Position discription

Supervisory and firefighting work of a difficult and responsible nature in supervising a firefighting company and station on assigned shift.

Work involved responsibility for the supervision and direction of firefighters engaged in Fire Service work including their appearance, conduct, discipline, and morale, and required the application of independent judgment and initiative in making technical fire decisions. At a fire or rescue scene I was responsible for the effective and efficient extinguishing of the fire, or life safety management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervised firefighters on assigned shifts. Holds roll call, inspects firefighters, and scheduled and supervised routine shift duties in the care and maintenance of station, grounds, apparatus, and equipment. Instructed firefighters in the performance of their duties. Responded with a fire company to alarms, evaluates situation, directs placement and operation of apparatus and equipment, and directed firefighters in effective methods and techniques of combating and extinguishing fires. Recommended necessary action to adjust grievances of firefighters. Recommended appropriate disciplinary action. Prepared daily and monthly reports. Performed related tasks as assigned.
