  • Set up timber cruises (flagged, painted, plotted timber stands on GPS handheld devices).
  • Set up wetland and stream buffers in timber stands (SMZ).
  • I cruised (usually fixed radius, but also BA plots) timber sales on properties across South Carolina using TCruise on both pine and hardwood stands.
  • Cruised timber for property appraisal purposes.
  • Marked pine for second thinning.
  • Marked pine and hardwood for wildlife habitat improvement.
  • Used chainsaws to cut down standing trees, and cut up fallen trees.
  • Conducted site prep burning.
  • Conducted Rx burns for clients.
  • Observed and checked on loggers, sprayers, and other site preparations to make sure all was being done in landowners' best interests and government regulations.
  • Inspected completed site preparations to evaluate compliance with standards, specifications, and laws.
  • Used GIS to map properties, dividing them into different stands and compartments for landowner and forester use.
  • Monitored water drainage (ditches, pipes, dams, drains, spillways) on properties for the benefit of tree health, logging operations, and landowner interests.
