My duties as a production operator is to over the day to day operations of the oil and gas wells at my facility. That in hand ,i must monitor equipment ,to ensure that production goals are being met on a daily basis and if not,make adjustments as needed to keep everything running smoothly.

My primary position as a shaker hand ,was to ensure the removing of drilled solids from the mud. This position is very critical,because it is the first line of defense when a blow-out occurs. You have to maintain a consistent mud weight,so trapped gases do not reach the surface. You must keep communication with the derrick-hand and driller. Mud weight must be called out consistently over the intercom system provided.
