Forestry Maintenace Worker

  • When employed with NN Forestry I had the opportunity to work with a newly created department that was funded under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)
  • I conducted inventory on forest tree species that were streamlined under Navajo Tribal Utility Authority
  • I physically counted tree species that Navajo Nation has to offer within the Navajo Nation
  • NTUA would project new customers to receive utilities
  • Basically, any tree species that fell within a marked line in a forest/open area was to being counted (inventoried) and entered onto a data sheet that was to be given a dollar amount for tree purchase by NTUA
  • I had a follow up post inspection on the cutting projects when completed
  • The inspection consisted of a check list to identify the cutters job in detail
  • I also started an inventory list that the department had to track for ARPA auditing purposes
  • Other duties were to assist the woodland department in loading firewood that was purchased by customers
  • Self-motivated, with a strong sense of personal responsibility.

Blue Ron Tree and Firewood Service

  • I operated and maintained chainsaws and small equipment for daily operation.
  • When employed with Blue Ron, I assist with cutting in a Right of Way for NTUA customers to receive utility services.
  • When cutting lines for new customers, there is a center line that is flagged throughout the tree line.
  • I assisted the chipping crew to complete debris clean up.
  • I kept to the process of not having any leftover debris/woodchips within the ROW,
  • I hauled/transported a wood chipper through the ROW to further assist the crew when chipping wood.
  • I was in charge of transporting work equipment to job sites.
  • This included flatbeds, stump grinders, woodchippers, man lifts, and stand on skid steers, mini excavators and work material and tools.
  • I not only transport the said equipment, but I would also operate to further assist the crew,
  • Another part of Blue Rons services I took part in is arborist work,
  • This entails tree climbing, tree limbing, stump grinding, and wood chipping,
  • I have basic knowledge of how to tie knots with climbing rope.
  • I climbed 10-50 feet to attach pull ropes or limb branches that are hanging over business structures or residential areas and property fixtures such as fences, storage sheds etc.
  • Another service that I assist with is firewood distribution
  • I would cut wood to firewood stove size to further acquire customers demand to heat homes through sale distribution

  • I started as a temporary helper with Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA).
  • I conducted annual inventory and property inventory at (8) district warehouse throughout the Navajo Reservation.
  • My job title became permanent as an Accounting Work Order Clerk, duties as follows: I obtained control of work order packets that came in from the (8) districts from January – June.
  • During this time frame I closed/open work orders packets and reconciled ledgers.
  • From the end of June - December I was conducted NTUA’s Annual Warehouse Inventory.
  • I was given the task of analyzing inventory reports and excel formulated inventory data spreadsheets. This included data entry.
  • I presented obsolescence material reports that obtained 5 years or more of material/assets.
  • I transitioned into a supervisor role for the inventory department.
  • I was in a supervisory role for 3 years.
  • I have a background in the accounting field that consists of 4-5 years
  • My accounting duties are as follows:
  • I closed monthly reports that were reviewed by supervisor.
  • Plant accounting department duties.
  • I supervised a 3–4-person crew (Inventory team).

  • My duties entailed working with an 18v power drill/impact drill, framing hammer, 4’ level, measuring tape, and a variety of drill bits.

  • During my six months working with iina ba I gained knowledge in the construction field and worked very closely with customers’ demands on how concrete should be set.
  • I then went on to building forms for concrete to be molded into final setting.
  • I installed anchor bolts into the concrete to later install metal frame supports.
  • I finished concrete with a float, bull float, metal trowels.
  • My Iron working skills complied of measuring columns and setting iron on frames onto the anchor bolts.
  • My team and I worked with a sky lift and a man lift.
  • My tools consist of a spud wrench, crowbar, socket wrench, plum tool, 18v impact drill for installing sheet panels.
  • I also worked with power tools to tighten down bolts that held the metal frames together.
