  • As an Acetone Cyanohyrin (ACH) Operator my daily duties are as follows: Making morning and noon time rounds, taking samples from reactor, stripper, product, and storage, then running them in the lab to be sure the ph levels are accurate to specification. Blending PTZ in a mixer, operating sulfuric acid pumps in the acid unit and I also operate the ammonia frick compressors. As well as writing out permits to contractors as needed throughout my shift along with a host of other things.

  • Conduct Brock new hire orientation reviewing Citgo’s site specific and Brock’s policies and procedures. Attending daily toolbox talks, perform daily supervisor audits and safety observations, provide continual field safety support identifying unsafe actions, conditions, and behaviors. Coach employees on informative JSA’s, assist Citgo safety on mitigating hazards in the work area, conduct Brock annual and craft specific training. Identify root cause analysis and common factors on workplace incidents, audit and assist with Citgo E Permit system, provide mentorship and resources to Front Line Supervision so they become effective leaders and mentors to the Brock craft, encourage and acknowledge employee’s Stop Work Responsibility. Supports Brock’s “Tell Me” And “Stop the Drop” programs, assist in Human Machine Interface assessments, creates a working atmosphere that promotes a high level of enthusiasm and good morale in the field.

Outside Production Operator (Ethane/Propane Cracking Heater Unit)

  • Safely operating two styles of cracking heaters the SWEC and Lummus heaters. I’m involved in doing burner surveys, collecting boiler feed water samples as needed by the lab and switching the charge from “propane to ethane” or vice versa. Decoking heaters (taking offline) while bringing a heater back online from high steam standby. Also, “Shooting Skins” (which is retracting the temperature of the heater inside tubing system), performing lock-out/tag-out procedure when blind must be installed by maintenance and a host of many other duties needed to be performed.
  • As a Qualified Compressor Outside Operator, I assist the operation of caustic, steam turbines/electric motors, running lab samples, dealing with compressor hot well dreams, along with a host of other things. Also, being Qualified as a Distillation Outside Operator as well, I deal with numerous regeneration dryers and methanol beds, hydrogen dryers and refinery fuel dryers. This also involves DCS controls where the outside operator control moves for the board.
