As an Early Intervention Advisor, I provide support to nine Early Intervention programs in western and south-central Pennsylvania. Create Quality Enhancement Plans yearly to help programs meet and exceed their data goals. Participate in onsite verification visits to programs on a four-year cycle. As part of the verification visits, I review child records to ensure they are in compliance with state and federal guidelines, regulations, and statute, conduct supervisor and fiscal interviews, and write comprehensive verification visit reports which are delivered to the programs within 45 days of completion of the verification visit. I write the $18 million Part C Grant Application which is submitted to the Office of Special Education Programs at the federal level to provide funding to infant and toddler Early Intervention programs across Pennsylvania. Write narrative sections for the Annual Performance Report which is submitted to the Office of Special Education Programs yearly. Participate in meetings with Early Intervention programs either virtually or in-person to discuss various state initiatives, such as Coaching Across Settings. Attend biannual Early Intervention conferences to collaborate with stakeholders and programs on various state and program-based initiatives. Write and edit announcements and bulletins for the Bureau of Early Intervention Services and Family Supports. Study and review any policy changes at the state and federal level pertaining to Early Intervention. Attend various stakeholder meetings, including the State Interagency Coordinating Council in order to remain informed on issues and challenges facing the Early Intervention community in Pennsylvania.

Perform written analysis on behalf of OMHSAS for the Human Service Plans required by all 67 counties within the state, inclusive of multi-state joiners. Edit numerous business documents on a regular basis. Provide information related to the grant to outside organizations and agencies, when requested.
  • Act as lead for the Clinical High Risk for Psychosis (CHR-P) grant, administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). My work on the grant has led to an award of $1.6 million to be used over the next four years for the study of early psychosis symptoms in the prodromal population (children between ages 12 and 15). This is a collaborative effort between the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
