Primary nursing role includes, identifying students’ health needs through a variety of resources: students, parents, school administration, health aides, and teachers.
Provide support according to district policies, guidelines, and protocols, as well as follow Colorado State health guidelines and Board of Nursing requirements through the Nurse Practice Act.
Apply nursing theory and utilize it as a basis for decision making to support the diverse health needs of all student populations while focusing on the empowerment of the school climate and culture.
The district RN is an indirect supervisor of the health aide since all training and delegation come from protocols developed by the department of Health Services and under the district RN’s delegation
