During my time in college, I gained a greater understanding of mathematics. As my understanding grew, I gained a greater appreciation for the subject and have used that appreciation to help students overcome challenges in the field of mathematics.
As an educator, I find it important to mentor and encourage students to appreciate and use mathematics in real-world situations, strive to remove anxieties associated with learning math, and also pay special attention to struggling students and offer one-on-one tutoring to overcome hurdles.
I teach Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Finance. I have taught at Appalachian High School for 12 years. I also serve as a full time bus driver for Appalachian and have done so for 4 years. During my 12 years, I have maintained the following practices in my classroom:
