Though this will be my first official teaching job, I do have plenty of experience teaching outside of a school. As mentioned in my work experience, I often tutored many different students while working in afterschool care and that was a very valuable experience. In essentially all the jobs I've worked, I ended up moving into a training and managerial role. When taking customer service calls for Bank of America I was moved to a team that took the most difficult calls and had to deescalate the conversation on almost every call. We usually received hundreds of calls per night with little break in between. With Taylor's MARS I started training others for my former position after my first year which involved teaching many different skills and sales practices. While working these various jobs and completing my degree, I also taught in our children's ministry at church. I started this in 2016, have been writing all of our lessons since 2020, and have been a director since 2020 as well. Over the years I've exceeded in school and also fell short of my goals, I've had plenty and not enough at times. With all of these experiences I've found it's only helped me to be a better educator.
I also need to make a special point to say that for my first semester, I believe I would be teaching on an emergency certificate while I finish my masters degree and teaching certification this fall of 2024.
