Dedicated Surgical Technologist with 20 years at Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic, excelling in aseptic techniques and patient safety. Proven leadership in training staff and enhancing surgical outcomes. Adept at managing preoperative preparations and fostering strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Seeking a new opportunity to contribute my expertise.
I have worked at Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic for the past 20 years. Before that I worked at Petsmart in Ocoee where Dr. Daniel, his two sons and his wife ran a Banfield. I was so surprised to see the business cards come in at Kirkman. AVC, a new specialty clinic in town with all the men I knew from Banfield/Petsmart 20 years prior. Kirkman was owned by Dr. John Porter for over 25 years. When he sold the clinic to NVA I was concerned about the culture of the clinic. I was worried it would all become about money and less about patient care. Since NVA has taken over things have defiantly changed. Its definitely a corporation now. Only concerned about what will make them the most money. I have stuck with it mostly because of the friendships I have formed with Dr. Eliscu and Dr. Ebner. We have worked side by side for the past 20 years. I have been in surgery with Dr. Eliscu everyday all day for the past 20 years but unfortunately I think it may be my time to move on to something new. My daily job consist of coming in an hour before everyone else to get the surgery day started. I start by making sure there are estimates made for every surgical patient and printing all the paper work necessary for each individual case. Going over any pertinent information that should be discussed at admittance. I prep all surgical suites for that days surgeries. I admit all surgeries between 8 and 9 o'clock. I discuss estimates and any concerns that need to be addressed with each and every surgical client. I then draw the pre anesthetic bloodwork for each pet. After each surgery I call the client and discuss how surgery went and talk about pick up times. I am very proficient with dental procedures and dental x-rays and all aspects of surgery. From start to finish. Cleaning and wrapping surgical packs, sterilizing etc. We do not do any orthopedic surgeries anymore but I worked closely with Dr. Jon Wight when he was in town and used our clinic for all his Orlando cases for many years. I am also well trained in regular vaccine and wellness appointments and the more front of house things that a regular tech does on a daily basis. I have been a lead/head tech for many, many years and have trained countless employees in my time here at Kirkman. I am also extremely proficient in any and all blood draws, IV catheter placements, X-rays, using lab equipment, communicating with clients, reception, checking clients in and out. I am looking for a place that I can be proud to say that I am a part of. This used to be Kirkman Road for me but to much has changed and it is not the same place it once was. I am looking for a full time position perferably Monday through Friday. I currently work 7:00 to 3:30 and would love to keep those hours if possible. My references include Dr. Alicia Eliscu, Dr. Jim Ebner, Dr. Katherine Savardi, Dr. Kelsey Joyner. All of them can be reached at Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic. I am excited to start a new journey but also nervous to step away from what has been my whole life for the past 20 years. I have built a career for myself that I am very proud of and want to continue somewhere that I can be proud of again.
