My name is Wilbur Stiles, and at my career in every job I have ever done I have always strived to be the leader. I owned and operated a semi pro football team for over 8 yrs, in which I would meet with the Mayor, alderman of the city and have annual team meetings with over 20 teams and representatives in cities in other states. I don’t have a problem with public speaking and I’m respected by my co workers. While owning the team I was responsible for the control of over 60 people and making sure GameDays were flawless with coordinating the city, visiting teams and having the field cut, lined. Lights were on, getting referees in place as well as security, concession stands ready and the front gate being managed while I myself was getting ready to play. I held all players to a standard of professionalism and if my standards weren’t met, they were let go because no one was above the team. I also worked in landscaping for over 15 years, and was a foreman for 14 of those years. Everybody that worked with me was expected to be professional, and carry themselves that way in the eye of the public, as well as do the job we were hired to do.
I started working for GM IN 2010, and went from a production worker to a serviceman in 317. I wanted to learn more than just doing the same work daily, so I positioned myself to learn how the product is made from scratch and how the machines work from A to B. I applied for the team leader position when it opened up to gain knowledge of the businesses side and I wanted a different role to be able to make a difference in how things were ran from a serviceman point of view. I enjoyed that role and I believe it helped me develop the necessary skills I would need to be a successful group leader at General Motors.
