As project manager I was responsible for scheduling workers arrival at job sites, and for directing employee's tasks. As well as teaching new employees how to preform semi skilled task involving construction and job safety.
The job as operator included responding to wrecks in the Valdosta area and clearing the roadway. As well as insurance tows for Copart and Insurance Auto Auctions. Vehicles had to have damages documented and all fees paid for by check to be released from tow lots and repair shops. I was responsible for scheduling and planning the tows I would be responsible for in any given day. The job required quick thinking and problem solving to make heavily damaged cars tow-able and cautious concise thinking to clear roadways as quickly and safely as possible. Pre-shift checkoffs were required before the start of every workday to ensure the truck was in safe operating condition which included the following; Checking all tire pressures manually, checking emergency lights and operating lights all the way around the truck, documenting miles at the start of each shift, checking all hydraulic lines for leaks, testing the wench, testing the PTO, and all flat bed controls and function, checking the oil, and refilling the diesel exhaust fluid if needed. Averaged 6 tows a day over a year and a half with no incidents of damage.
I was responsible for safe operation of heavy duty equipment for movement of granite monuments. Loading and unloading tractors and hydraulic lifting equipment. Making and executing a plan of action for maneuvering heavy equipment through cemetery grounds without causing damages. Installing coping lots which required a high degree of precision and planning. As well as working with concrete and gravel. The job also included driving a diesel truck towing a thirty-five foot neck fifth wheel trailer with heavy loads. As well as talking with families of the deceased to understand how they wanted the grave site to look. During some months 20-30 monuments and grave sites were managed.
