My responsibilities were cut, clean and clear up around assets and equipment I used for most jobs were weed eaters, mowers, backpack blowers, chainsaws, shovels, rakes and I also assisted with weed control and trash pickup and clearing storm drains, catch basins and retention ponds.
I was hired on full time at the E.S sewer division and assigned to the backcutter crew which was a 2 or 3 man team. One truck would send a 600 ft steel rod with an auger thru stormwater mains and at the other end of that section of pipe I would swap out the auger with back cutter blades to cut up roots or other blockages in the pipe and sometimes flushing the pipe with water from hydrant while the lead retracts the rod back to his truck.
I was also on the hole crew where I learned safely how to locate, setup shoring, how to enter and exit the trenches. I learned how to safely clean up around pipe by excavator, vactor and shovels and cut pipe and grind around edges to create smooth and clean surface and install new saddles for pipe installation with 45's or 22’s bends for replacing and repairing sewer services that were between 8 and 20 plus ft deep excavations for customers within the city of Tacoma.
I operated daily loaders, backhoes, excavators, skid steers and vacuum sweeper trucks for Manke lumber company. While operating for them I was responsible for the stormwater runoff cleanup projects that were planned.
During that time I was responsible for removing dirty filtration material from retention and detention ponds and also replacing it with new material. The equipment I would use would be John Deere 230 LC excavator or John Deere backhoe 410. I would load contaminated material into the back of a dump truck and then dump the material into a containment area. Then loading the dump truck with clean material with a John Deere 444 loader.
I was also responsible for periodically cleaning the Manke saw dust plant retention pond, I would have to drive a John Deere 444 into the pond to scoop out all sawdust runoff with the loader and carry to containment area safely.
I was responsible for cleaning up bark and other material out of mankes log and lumber yard using a loader, backhoe, or skid steer to prevent material from washing into a filtration system during a storm events.
I've install, clean and maintained storm water runoff filters, oil water separators, completed and recorded detailed daily logs for projects. I've installed bio swales that were between 700 and 900 ft long and 6 1/2 ft deep, I maintained them by adding and replacing fresh sand, gravel, media and planted plants. I maintained this asset daily by inspecting soil, plants, corrugated pipes and made sure runoff was being dispersed correctly.
I've installed and maintained large industrial concrete vaults, submersible water pumps, concrete swales and baker tanks to capture and trap contaminated storm water runoff.
I also daily drove at a high level of proficiency a sweeper truck (Tymco 600) to keep mentioned areas clean and I was responsible of regenerative sweeper truck maintenance, cleaning and replacing parts like batteries, brushes, water sprayers changing and applying new fluids.
