This unit works with families in sensitive mental health related situations to assist getting help for loved ones. This unit also works with court staff on criminal matters when a subject's actions were likely caused by a mental health crisis rather than criminal intent and work to redirect the individual away from punitive court measures to professional psychiatric help.
- Department Training Officer (2014-2021)- Responsible for creating, implementing, and documenting adult learning. Created training helping officers understand and appropriately apply decision making skills in high stress situations. Wrote and created the department NARCAN policy, a lifesaving drug to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. Organized and ran the department Pre and POST Academy programs for officers who are going into the Police Academy and for those who just completed it.
- School Resource Officer (2008-2014)- Responsible for threat assessments to create and provide a safe learning environment for students.
