COVID Vaccine clinics April 2021- Current

  • Assisted in vaccinating soldiers in Fort Lee as well as vaccinating students at Virginia State University.

January 2020-May 2020. Advanced Diabetes Elective

  • Gained a deeper understanding of the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical course, clinical manifestations, prevention, and management of diabetes through the use of on-line didactic presentations, patient cases, self-directed learning, and active participation in classroom discussion. Emphasis was placed on the utilization of data to optimize pharmacotherapy for patient scenarios.

  • During this online course I learned about the difference between how humans and animals metabolize medications. I also learned what medications to not give animals.

  • During this 2-hour course I learned how to assess someone’s readiness to quit smoking and how to guide them through the process.

February 2019-April 2019 Implicit Bias Course

  • In this course I learned about how our minds operate and the origins of implicit bias. I also learned my own biases and strategies to addressing them. This is extremely important especially in the health care field because I will encounter many different people of different race and ethnicity and all should be treated equally to give the best possible care to my patients.

Volunteer Experiences

July 2019-August 2019

  • Volunteered 21 hours at CrossOver Ministry Diabetes clinic. I performed medication reconciliation, obtained and assessed vitals, A1C and blood glucose. I provided to results to the patient as well as the pharmacist on duty, we then discussed and came up with a plan for the patient to better manage there diabetes.

Presentations and Projects

May 2018

  • Developed an education poster on the new Shingrix vaccine and presented it to the residence and nurses at Brandermill woods assisted living home.

September 2020

  • Researched and presented the advantages/disadvantages in the use of the traditional 3-dose regimen of N-acetylcysteine and 2-dose regimen in acetaminophen overdose, as well as the use of 2-dose regimen in pediatrics. Presented to pharmacists as well as physicians.
  • Researched and created a guideline in the use of 3% hypertonic sodium chloride infusion for pediatric patients with hyponatremia and increased intracranial pressure. Presented to pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.

November 2020

  • Developed a hypothetical trial for the use of different steroids in COVID-19.
