I included the Strawberry Prescribed Burn because it was one of my longer fire assignments. Eleven of these were two-week assignments, including the three-week roles in Alaska and Canada.

Held the line during prescribed burns.
Patrolled previously burned areas and eliminated dangerous hot spots.
Worked in tandem with engines and other hand crews.
Cleaned, serviced, and maintained fire apparatus in condition of readiness and performed general maintenance of fire department property.
Swamped brush and logs away from the black (burned area) during fuel reduction operations.
Identified potential hazards and habitat trees during fuel reduction operation and prescribed burns.
Stood night watch on hand lines, dozer lines, and roadways.
Cooked for my coworkers at camp and in the barracks.
Maintained spike camp.
Followed safety protocol while traveling to and from work sites via helicopter, airplane, or automobile.

Camarillo is where I completed my fire training through the CCC. Upon arrival on January 2, 2022, I was placed in the warehouse where I kept stock of equipment, gear, and clothing for grade workers and fire crew members. That March, I joined Camarillo Fire Crew 3 for training and completion of the Type 1 competencies, which included certain physical fitness standards, fire line construction capability, and knowledge of relevant equipment. During my time in Camarillo, I also took part in various projects in Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita, Malibu, and Santa Monica. This included fuels (vegetation) management, road clearance of rock and debris, and trash removal from freeway shoulders, parks, and waterways. I completed the remaining 48 hours of required volunteer service as well. Volunteer work during my time in the CCC varied from assisting with local pop-ups and food banks to trash removal, on the initiative of corpsmembers.
