My name is Will Martin. I am currently a nursing student at UT Health Science Center San Antonio and an Aircrew Member in the U.S. Air Force. I began my education at Stephen F. Austin University as a pre-nursing major. After my first year, I joined the U.S. Air Force in response to Covid-19, as the pandemic drastically changed my lifestyle and learning experience. In the Air Force, I am a C-5M Galaxy Loadmaster tasked with moving hundreds of thousands of pounds of cargo worldwide in support of our missions. Joining the Air Force was the most significant decision I've made, as it taught me discipline and the importance of doing something for the greater good. I plan to carry this philosophy to new heights as I pursue a career in Nursing.
As a server at Plucker's, I was trained to be a part of a team. In this position, I have gained crucial knowledge about the restaurant business and what it takes to make the customer leave with a smile. In this position, I ran food and drinks, performed running duties, cut duties, and used critical thinking to solve issues that come with serving and ringing up food. In a short amount of time, I managed to become very proficient, and managed to be confident in my abilities to serve and converse with guests.
As a professor's assistant, I graded examinations, uploaded grades to Blackboard, and tracked student information throughout the semester on Excel.
