Over the past two and a half years i have learned so much as an aviation mechanic apprentice. I had chosen to take the route of the on the job experience. In the last 2years and 9 months i;ve done little over 15 months of power plant and little over 15 month's of airframe time. The airport has an active flight school that requires the planes in the fleet to have a 50hr oil change and a 100 hr inspection. I've assisted in many 50hr oil changes and 100 hrs inspections. With the A&P looking over verifying the work performed.
The 15 months of airframe time I've assisted in fuselage checks and inspections. I have learned what to look for when inspecting and checking for 100HR inspections and for annuals. The airframe inspections I've been looking for anything that might or is going to be causing a problem with the plane flying, taxiing, or just simply moving in and out of the hanger or hangers. I've assisted in checking for rust or corrosion in the wings and how to stop and treat the wings by scuffing and spraying ACF-15,Anticorrosion on the spot as needed. I've assisted in removing and replacing a couple wings and adjusting ailerons and adjusting the trims the elevators. I've assisted in removing and replacing fuel tanks and how to use a sticky patch to seal and stop leaking rivets. There were many brake linings that were past if not down to the rivets holding the linings in. I've assisted and learned how to replace them.
The 15 months of power plant time I've assisted in multiple engine removals and replacements. New Garden maintenance shop dose not do allot of rebuilding but dose do engine removals and replacements when needed. I've completed compression checks to check the differential pressure of the cylinders out of 80PSI and verify that the cylinders and engine are with in specifications with the Engine malefactors limits. I've assisted in replacing carburetors and idle adjustments and adjusted mixture, throttle, carb heat linkages and lines. I have been learning and performing routine maintenance like cleaning and inspecting fuel inlet screens, cleaning and inspecting Gascolator, removing fuel injectors and cleaning them with an ultrasonic cleaner. I have been learning and performing routine maintenance like cleaning and inspecting fuel inlet screens, cleaning and inspecting Gascolator, removing fuel injectors and cleaning them with an ultrasonic cleaner. I've removed and inspected spark plugs using a champion spark plug tester and cleaner, then checked the resistance in the plugs and then replaced the bad ones and torqued the plugs down on the engine to the malefactors specifications. I've assisted and magneto replacements, timing, adjusting. I've performed with the A&P oil samples and oil filter inspections and what to look for using an magnet and checking the fins of the filters
Assisted in aircraft maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion of projects and adherence to industry standards.
When working in automotive felid i obtained PA Emission and Inspection license for cars and trucks.
