I worked on repowering the towers for GE.
I started in the offload crew.
Offload components and blades.
Aligned trucks are coming in and positioned RT cranes to be able to offload components.
Planned and marked where each set of components was going to be.
We always inspected the rigging and tools before we used them.
We rigged the components and communicated with the crane operator about where we wanted our components and blades set.
After offloading, I went to the crew where I worked mostly down the tower.
I was assigned to prep blades before we sent them in every sight.
We would use a boom lift when we sent a new pair of blades up to detach the rigging from the blade facing down.
We used thick rope to guide the old blades when we set them back down.
Prepared the drive train and rigged components that had to be sent up for up the tower.
Always made sure to wear proper PPE.
I made sure to stay hydrated; oftentimes, I liked to remind my coworkers to drink water.
Keep areas clean before leaving for a new site, always!
Assembled rotor blades and gearbox,
We would break the crane down when needed to move to a far site, a far sight.
I did an inventory for our tools.
I had to go in the man-basket a couple of times to tie up old blades.

I would set the generator in sight.
Inspect my harness on a daily basis before use.
climbed on a daily basis.
Tensioned blade bolts inside the hub.
We installed cages when we were done tensioning.
We always kept our area clean before going back down
If something was missing, I made sure to report it and always took lots of pictures.
Used the hatch and chain in the back to bring tools up and down.
I would volunteer to climb up for something that wouldn't take too long to fix.
We made sure everyone knew how to use the brake pump for the blades to be held in position to tension.
We were nominated top crew in this project.
Top Out and Blade Tensioner
Wood
Pratt, Kansas
02.2021 - 03.2021
The short project was only there for a few months and started out as the top-out crew.
The towers were V110s and V120s.
I did groundwork and also went up the tower.
The groundwork involved preparing cans, washing them, and then sending them up.
Ran extension cords and 120 cables through cans.
Gather tools for the guys working up tower.
Connected the rigging to cans, nacelle, and blades.
Uptower work would involve setting up bolts and impacts to put cans when they arrived, torquing bolts, and connecting them.
I would also torque the nacelle.
Used forklift and skid steer to send blades up, and thick rope to guide them as well.
In this project, we worked very long hours due to the weather (over 12 hours).
I climbed a lot for blade tension up to 3 times or 4 times to correct mistakes.
I did get to inspect the towers with a punch list to see if we missed something.
Tensioned blades in the hub, up tower.
Tensioned Base and Blade Tensioner- New Sight
Blattner Energy
Greentop, Missouri
06.2020 - 12.2020
I started as a base tensioner; the bases were set. I just had to go and tension the bolts that were set already.
I inspected tools, and oftentimes I had to translate in Spanish.
When we finished the job, I was moved to Blade Tension, where I would climb on a daily basis.
The towers we did were Vesta's 110s and 120s.
I tensioned the blades and used a brake pump to stop the blades from spinning.
I would use a chain and organize our tools so they would fit in the hatch to send our tools up and down.
We used generators, and I would climb up or down with the cable we would use for the generator.
