William Charlie Knight

I started Texas Metal Works after Nike Golf shut down the golf division in 2015.

My roll as owner is from doing bids for customers, to invoicing, to bill paying, banking, payroll and tax preparation. I am also the welder/fabricator, I do all the drawings, planning , scheduling, and do all the interaction with the customers. I have had good success with very little advertising do to having good customer referrals. I grew up here in Granbury so knowing a lot people here in town helps.

I started at Nike as a custom club maker. Making customized wedges and irons made from raw forgings for tour players, and for production model samples. I increased our output in our grind shop and machine shop by a little over 30% by finding new methods and hard work so I was moved to the position of manager in just a couple of years. I also did QC work on production samples from the factories to insure the quality of the clubs to be sold. I had 9 people that reported to me so I also did coaching and year end reviews. I worked with the HR department when doing hiring and unfortunately when firing was necessary. I also had a role in inventory control and ordering for our facility for abrasive belts for the grind shop and tooling for the machine shop.

As general manager I was over the sales staff, parts department staff, and the service writing staff. I ordered all the hard and soft parts for the inventory, I also was a part of ordering much of the flooring inventory such as motorcycles, jet skis, and four wheelers. In the 5 years I was there I increased the overall sales by 33% while decreasing the flooring tax by over half by working with advertisers and by implementing an inventory control process making sure the older units where built to sell first. I also was involved in the hiring process.
