Driven by a deep commitment to understanding and improving mental health, I am a dedicated candidate pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. My academic background in psychology, coupled with hands-on experience in clinical settings, has equipped me with a robust understanding of psychological theories, research methodologies, and evidence-based therapeutic practices. I am particularly interested in exploring Race as a social contruct, intergenerational trauma, and the mental health of black males. My goal is to be a clinical psychologist who specializes in black males' mental health. The impact of racial intergenerational trauma continues to plague minority communities and continues to exist due to perpetrated modern racism. The lack of resources, aids, and focus on black males' mental health problems is glaring. There’s a lack of trust between people of color and mental health practitioners due to the lack of representation of black mental health practitioners in this field. I decided that my purpose was to help and create an avenue that supports black males in receiving adequate mental health treatment to improve all areas of life. My goals are to identify mental health interventions and resources and to bring attention to the mental health crisis that black males face today. I also want to contribute to clinical psychology through research, teaching, and clinical practice. I am particularly interested in exploring the intersection of masculinity, trauma and resiliency, and how therapeutic interventions can be tailored to support individuals who have experienced significant psychological distress. I believe that advancing our understanding of these areas can lead to improved therapeutic outcomes and better quality of life for many individuals. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong foundation in quantitative and qualitative research, contributing to the effects of pornography on black males mental health, the effects of Intergenarational trauma on Black males mental and physical wellbeing, and presented at the BSAS Conference 2024. My colleague and I presented on treatments for trauma. The presentation was titled Harnessing the Body’s Healing Potential: Recovery Through Somatic Modalities. My clinical experience includes working with diverse populations in hospitals, residential communities, and outpatient services, where I have honed my skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. I am eager to contribute to the field of clinical psychology by advancing research that addresses critical mental health challenges and by providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals in need.
