USNA Background

I came to USNA from high school in New Orleans, Louisiana. All I knew in high school was that I wanted to be a part of something bigger. I didn't know what form that would take until my father, a former Naval Officer, suggested that I look in to the Naval Academy. Now, I seek a spot in America's Nuclear Navy as a Submarine Warfare Officer. I am pursuing a double major in electrical engineering and computer engineering, with a minor in Japanese. I chose this workload because I intend to get the most development possible from my time at the Naval Academy.

Motivations

In my time at the Naval Academy, I have made it my goal to seek out and engage with as many ways to improve as possible. The MIT-LL Internship is a unique opportunity to learn more and gain experience in several fields that I find interesting. I had the wonderful opportunity to conduct an internship at the National Reconnaissance Office, where I was able to apply my electrical engineering coursework to the fascinating space domain. As part of my application to the Naval Academy's Bowman Scholar Program, I am working on research in RF subjects. MIT-LL's Advanced Technology and Space Systems and Technology research areas both feature groups of development that are within my interest area, which further compelled me to apply.
