Work History

Research Assistant

University of Utah
Salt Lake City
11.2022 - Current
  • I work in Professor Golic's Drosophila Lab, helping with genetics research
  • My project has been focusing on a specific strain of flies with a ring Y chromosome and trying to make this mutation less lethal.
  • Our hypothesis was that by inducing large insertions or deletions in the linear chromosomes, these mutations on the non-ring chromosome would be able to reduce the lethality of the ring chromosome.
  • Assisted in the design and implementation of experimental protocols.
  • Collaborated with other researchers in developing study designs, methods, and tools for data collection.
  • Prepared comprehensive reports summarizing research findings.
  • Induced Mutations.
  • Propagated Mutant Lines.
  • Data collection.
  • Data Analysis.
  • Microscopy.

Research Intern

Pfizer
Boulder, CO
03.2022 - 06.2022
  • I worked with the integrated protein sciences team to improve the purification process of JAK2, a cancer-related protein that the lab was having trouble purifying in high yields.
  • Prepared a poster for senior lab members, outlining key findings from my research project.
  • Collaborated with other interns to ensure efficient completion of research tasks.
  • Assisted in developing new ideas for future research initiatives.
  • Organized and maintained records of all data collected during research activities.
  • Designed experiments to test hypotheses related to a particular topic or area of study.
  • Cell Culturing.
  • DNA Extraction.
  • Gel Electrophoresis.
  • Western Blots.
  • Mass Spectrometry.
