Xander Waugh

I fill prescriptions, counsel patients, talk to insurance companies, and doctors. I input new prescriptions, and resolve insurance discrepancies. I do everything in the pharmacy I am legally allowed to do, and I do it well. On top of all this, I have a very good knowledge of medications and what they do.

• I have worked on my family farm from a very young age. I can operate almost any vehicle, and I have a vast knowledge of crops and cattle. A farm is hard, tiring work, and it teaches you a lot about teamwork.

• I had four knee surgeries and one Achilles surgery through KU Med; my surgeon and doctor was Dr. Scott Mullen. Along with being an orthopedic surgeon, he is also the team doctor for the Chiefs. I job-shadowed him all summer, learning about everything medical-related.

• I mainly play flag football, but on occasion, I umpire baseball. I had, and still have, very many relationships with the parents and the kids. I learned a lot about how to communicate with the younger generation, as well as with parents and grandparents.

• I worked to feed residents, talk to them, and keep them clean. I also led the 'city' meetings that were supposed to be resident-only; no other employee was allowed in these meetings other than me, and we had a tradition where I would start off the meeting with a prayer.
