XiaoQing Yuan

• Working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Their duties include communicating with Doctors and other Registered Nurses about patient needs, administering IVs and medications to aid their patients’ health and using medical equipment to monitor patients’ vital signs.

• Introduce the patient to day surgery center, explain the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative procedure and offer necessary information regarding the operation.
• Monitoring and recording patient's vital statistics such as blood pressure and oxygen saturation, pulse rate and temperature. Documenting medical records of the patient which includes treatment details, medications and other details related to patient in a confidential manner.
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays. Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients
• To establish and carry out standard nursing procedures for various post-operative patients. For example: monitoring and recording the amount of draining with laparoscopic cholecystectomy patient. Closely monitoring vital signs for the patient having liver biopsy. Check wound regularly and record any changes. Inform the healthcare provider if there is significant bleeding after post-operation. Monitoring and recording patient's intake and output in patient chart. Using appropriate devices and closely monitoring the effect for post-operation patients. For example: Intermittent Pneumatic Compression for high risk DVT patients after operation immobilized.
• To maintains effective communications with patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team to improve care and services to patients. Initiate patient specific discharge planning on admission and updates daily. Ensures smooth transfer process through appropriate assessment, communication and documentation needs. It's proactive in anticipating patient needs prior to discharge date to ensure complex patient needs are met. (ex: PICC line placement and medication administration education to patient and family). Supports and enforces infection control practices by practicing standard transmission precautions and consistent use of personal protective equipment. Measured by observation.

• Implementing plans through tasks such as preparing patients for operations, wound treatment and monitoring pulse, blood pressure and temperature.
• Observing and recording the condition of the patients. Checking and administering medications. Assisting with tests and evaluations. Responding quickly to emergencies. Communicating with and relieving the anxiety of patients and their relatives.
• Maintain patient's records. Promoting patients health according to patient's physical, psychological and social needs. Using proper transfer aids to transfer patient. For example: banana board, hoist, transfer table. Carry out palliative care for terminal ill patients. Prevent ulcer sore and promote comfort.
