Research Experience

Research Assistant | 05/2022 to 12/2023

Touro University California - Vallejo, Ca

  • Studied the electrophysiological of the voltage gated potassium HERG channels under different conditions, in order to better understand their properties in order to understand how the reduction of these channels leads to Long QT syndrome, which can be lethal.
  • Responsibilities included running PCR cycles to make DNA and RNA for different mutations of the HERG channel, in addition to recording electrical currents from the channel under conditions, by impaling a Xenopis (frog) oocyte with a two electrode voltage clamp.
  • Presented weekly data findings to PI and discussed future experiments and procedures.

Accomplishments

  • AFX Captain and director of the dance team - "Phoenix"
  • Learned and Coded up a Convolutional Neural Network in R studio that is trained on the MNIST data set
