- I currently work in the alcohol department as a lead.
- My job consists of unloading railcars via hoses into stationary tanks that reside on the premises. I regularly crouch and climb those rail carts.
- I would calculate how many gallons went in through equations I learned that help me convert meter readings into gallon amounts via a strap chart, and temperature gauges indicate numbers again via the strap chart.
- I also work with trailers; we don't issue weight tickets (this company is not that big). We mainly work with meter readings, temperature, gauges, and valves.
- I am very detail-oriented, meaning I know how to juggle tasks that need to be done, because that's usually the case around here.
- Working with alcohol entitles me to learn about certain regulations and procedures that need to be done from time to time because this is a food-grade product that I work with, and employees here are trained in accordance with state and federal regulations that are implied here at the facility.
- I also work with denaturants, mixes, totes, and drums.
- As a lead, I am also in charge of inventory at the end of each month. I have to count all of our stock and everything we have at the facility that is alcohol-related.
- I also have to communicate very efficiently with the ladies at the office, who issue us the orders that need to get done. I have to say, that is a delicate procedure.
- I work indoors and outdoors, rain or shine, and I am a good leader (or so I like to think).
