Conduct a medical health assessment on individuals applying for life insurance. Responsibilities included obtaining the following: vitals, blood draw, urine samples, saliva swabs, EKG, medical history interview, complete exams, and faxing information to the main office to be sent out to numerous types of life insurance. Some exams were online and received 30 minutes after being submitted. Cetrifuge and mail specimens to laboratory for testing. Properd disposal of sharps. Kept track of supplies to ensure I'm fully stocked and prepared for my daily appointments.
I worked alone. Serviced all High Desert area.
Completed 40 hours. Performed 50+ successful blood draws, venipuncture using a butterfly needle and syringe. Proper disposal of sharps. Worked in different areas of the hospital, such as the ER and ICU floor. Tube labeling, inputting patient information into the system, and specimen processing.
Medical Assistant back office duties include taking vitals, administering injections, performing ear lavage, rooming patients, keeping rooms sanitized and clean, and proper disposal of sharps at the end of the day. (12 hr shifts)
Responsibilities included front and back office duties, and 12-hour shifts.
Greeting patients as soon as they walk in the door, checking patients in and out, verifying insurance eligibility online and/or by phone, maintaining payment logs, billing, scheduling appointments and surgeries, preparing consent forms and paperwork for upcoming surgeries, and scheduling and performing pre-op appointments in a timely manner. Follow up on claims, keep meaningful use up to date, keep patient charts up to date, scan all documents, call in prescriptions, call in to get patient information from other providers if needed, call in to schedule patients' imaging appointments, prepare fee forms, keep the lobby area and patients' rooms clean, organized, and sanitized, create a peaceful environment for patients, perform physical therapy for PO and other foot issues, venipuncture, UA samples, EKG, vitals, and present the patient with a treatment plan before starting/getting consent and other forms signed.

I commuted to multiple offices in the Inland Empire and High Desert area.
Greet patients, answer phones, assist with intake forms, keep the schedule updated, call in to get authorization from the state to perform additional tests needed, keep the waiting room and patient rooms clean and sanitized, take vital signs, perform INS testing, give injections, conduct venipuncture, perform EKG, conduct PFT, and take body measurements for ortho exams.
Worked with a variety of different providers with different specialties, such as psychiatrist, psychologist, orthopedic specialists, internal medicine doctors, and neurologists.
Completed 160 externship hours.
