Research project: Blacknose dace (Rhinichthys atratulus) increase CYP1A gene expression in response to oil contamination in the creek of Indianfield Run, Ohio

Research in combination of genetic analysis and environmental study. The first study that successfully cloned the CYP1A DNA from blacknose dace. Acquired skills: Interdisciplinary studies, primer design, ligation of cDNA, and quantitative RT-PCR analysis.

Research project: Effect of Temperature on the expression of ELF3_Pp3c1 genes in Physcomitrella patens (moss).

Research ideas and experimental procedures were designed independently by me and my partner Megan Lieb. Target gene was selected by Dr.Hicks. Acquired the ability to design experimental research, extract and purify RNA, manipulate PCR cycles, and interpret heatmap of gene sequences

Research assistant to Dr.Li in the project Rapid Amplification of Plasmid and Phage DNA using phi29 DNA polymerase.

Acquired the ability to pipette DNA, manipulate PCR machine, interpret data from gel electrophoresis, and communication in teams.
