A direct support Professional (DSP) is a person who assists an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community,(this may include with helping with activities of daily living and supporting positive attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion). A DSP may provide support to an individual with disability at home, work, school, church and other community places. Most DSP are expected to document their interactions with client- as well as any changes they notice- so the care team may learn and develop strategies.
