• Implemented migration of CRT database from an on-premises Oracle database to an Amazon AWS MySQL database. This involved a rigorous data validation process to ensure data accuracy, especially for challenging data types like BLOB, CLOB, and XML. I also implemented advanced DMS configurations to streamline the migration process by adopting the advanced features during the implementation.
• Tackled various performance bottlenecks across Oracle, Redshift, and Aurora databases. Multiple database queries are investigated and rewrote to have the better performance. For Oracle RDS, I optimized caching for BRI1 databases. I resolved high CPU usage and slowness issues for BRI1 databases by implementing table encoding. Additionally, I improved MySQL database performance for the CRT database by creating necessary indexes. These optimizations significantly improved overall database performance.
• Migrated and configured the large testing data volumes for the BRI development team to simulate the testing for having 25 month of data. Implemented the new process to have much efficient and quicker process to achieve the goal.
• I collaborated with the team to successfully implement Oracle patching across all database servers, ensuring the security and reliability of our systems. I strictly adhered to database security best practices and PCI compliance standards for all databases. To foster knowledge sharing and empower the DBA team, I created comprehensive documentation for various database project processes, enabling them to take on more responsibilities.
• Migrated Production databases from 11.2.0.3 Solaris to 12.2.0.1/19.3.0. Linux which requires across platform implantation. RMAN transportable database approach is selected and implemented.
• Provided the solution of salesforce backup requirement came from Business CCO unit without affecting the performance of the IVRPROD database. Proposed to utilize the IVRSTG database which is an extremely underutilized database in Synapse. This solution archived the following goal: Providing the archive place for the salesforce without increase the Oracle license count. The application traffic to IVRPROD database is not affected since this solution will detour the traffic to a different database. Thus, the performance of IVRPROD is not affected. Since the IVRSTG and IVRPROD database are on the same server, so the data retrieval /transfer between the two databases will not be compromised.
• Separated the PCI (IVRPROD database) data and the non PCI (IVRSTG) data. This proposal is selected by our client and development team.
• Implemented PCI and SOX auditing projects which involves creating dynamic report, scripting, documentation, data cleanup, tuning the archiving process, working with auditors to demo the database security features, etc. From database side, closely work with dev team to make sure Synapse meet the PCI requirement of data archival process. Developed the automated process to dynamically generate the reports for the auditor to meet the Sox and PCI requirement.
• Provided the solution for poodle vulnerability came from the Oracle cloud control OMS server and agent, DB and application servers.
• Data center move to AWS. From DB side, Provided the data move solution to the dev team to move the data from AWS by using network link from read only local database to AWS without having downtime from the online database. Established and guided the data refreshing procedure from local to AWS database shared with the DBA team to set the guidelines for the data refresh in AWS with data integrity.
• Provided the data archival solution for data warehouse reporting database by designing the dumping database in AWS and retrieval the data from local database without the need to create dump file. This solution is a cost saving for us by having the database in AWS as standard edition.
• Created the multiple RI instance for the RDS Oracle and mysql database with 3 year term up to 70% of the cost. For example, the cost of RI of 2TB size in around $8,000 vs $24,000/year of we use the adhoc RDS@AWS.
• Implemented security parameters for all the mysql database. For the Oracle RDS, setup the process to create profile, user/schema, user security to manage AWS databases. Setup the Oracle 12c key rotation process in AWS. Performed mysql database configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting in AWS. Worked with AWS team provided the performance solution from mysql with dev team. Created the key rotation process in Oracle RDS database to satisfy the PCI requirement.
• WHK data center move for APSPROD,IBSPROD,IBSPROD1 databases. Ensured smooth database move during the unexpected TCS maintenance. Established the Oracle active standby implementation and switchover implementation.
• Provided the technical guidelines within the DBA team for various releases, projects and tasks. Mentoring DBA members to provide the technical solutions to the dev team. Managing the DBA team projects tracking the status until the delivery. Hosting the DBA meeting for all 4 DBAs on the weekly basis to discuss the technical solutions. Assigning and tracking all DBA member’s tasks, projects and work load and projects' priority.
• Setup the demo for the new technology within the DBA team. For example: RMAN, Golden gate, Oracle 12.2 new features, Redshift new features, AWS RDS demo. The purpose of this routine is to encourage positive airflow within the DBA team and make the DBAs feel that their technical skill is growing by following me through all this learning sessions.
• Worked with dev team to perform the EIHPROD database cleanup project which saved 250GB of space; Worked with dev team to perform the IBSPROD table level reorg which saved 200GB of space. Proactively discovered the fragmentation of the database in SYNDW and provided the solution.
• Designed the RAM mysql database and tables. Provided the solution of data migration from Oracle to mysql. Also, created the ksh, sql code for the developers to perform the database deployment dynamically due to lack of dev resources. Created the deployment template scripts which can be reused by the developers.
• Provided the solution for the app support team for the data encryption for the EIHPROD database without import data which it crucial for the delivery of the project on time. This was a urgent need from our business requirement. The faster the solution we can provide, the higher customer satisfaction we will gain. Provided the quick solution without impose any security concerns.
• Performance tuning for the major databases. Like PROD, IVRPROD and SYNDW, MAPSPROD database. Provided the solution for the order id conversion project to cut the implementation time from 22 hour plus to under 2 hours. The solution regarding a long running DB process is using the rowid to minimize the query processing time.
• Setup, Configured the Oracle OEM cloud control. Created the monitor template for the DB targets monitoring. Setup and create alert templates for all the synapse databases and DB targets. Established the process providing the monitoring solution for Synapse DB targets. Setup tablespace monitoring script which is currently used by our monitor team.
