Adept at multitasking and communication, I excelled as a Teacher's Assistant under Richard Cutrona, teaching photography processes and assisting in class management. My reliability and focus shone through in varied roles, from dog walking and babysitting to efficiently serving at Village Ice Cream Parlour, demonstrating organizational skills.
I frequently walk Miguel's two dogs and take care of them when the family is out of town. I also occasionally babysit their two kids, Anessa (5) and Jackson (11). I also babysit and walk other neighbors' dogs, but I primarily do this for Miguel's family.
Mapso Open Mic is an event showcasing local music talent at CHS where students have an opportunity to sign up and perform for a crowd. I have been organizing this event for two years now, ever since the role was passed on to me by Sasha Sinkler, the founder of Mapso Open Mic, who graduated a few years ago and passed the torch on to me. I have maintained a high level of dedication to this event, even paying for insurance claims and event spaces. The next open mic will be August 15th at the South Orange Elks Club, where I will also perform solo and with my band.
For the second semester of my junior year at CHS I assisted my photography teacher, Richard Cutrona, in his traditional photography class. The scope of the course included learning how to operate a film camera, developing film, using enlargers, and developing images on photo paper with black and white film. Mr. Cutrona recognized that I was very knowledgeable in these areas and allowed me to help him in the teaching process. I was able to teach others these processes and answered any questions they had along the way.
In addition to scooping ice cream and making milkshakes for customers, I unboxed and refilled materials, keeping the workplace organized. I also operated the cash register and swept and mopped the floors during evening shifts.
I have won a few awards for my work in photography:
-Gold key, Silver key and two honorable mentions in the Scholastic Art & Writing awards
-Blue ribbon in the regional Teen Arts festival
Thanks to my resources at school, it is easy for me to practice photography on my own time. I tend to gravitate towards the abstract, but I also like to document aspects of my life in a way that feels more "physical" than on a phone. I've been playing piano since I was 10 years old and I am involved in jazz combos through Jazz House Kids in Montclair as well as the CHS Jazz Band. Recently, I've taken an interest working on digital music production with drum machines, synths, guitar pedals and digital manipulation techniques.
