I am a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in Medicine with minors in EMS and Biochemistry, and a GPA of 3.92. I currently work as an Emergency Department medical scribe at Northwest Medical Center, where I assist physicians with documentation, train new scribes as an Ambassador Scribe, and previously served as a lead scribe for the cardiothoracic ICU team. In addition to my clinical work and NREMT certification, I have gained exposure to medicine through physician shadowing and volunteer experiences, reinforcing my commitment to pursuing a career as a physician.
I have worked in the Emergency Department of Northwest Medical Center since June 2023, where I have completed physicians' documentation of patient care, among other tasks.
In November of 2023, I was offered to be a lead scribe for the Cardiothoracic surgery team in the ICU during the transition of new nurse practitioners into their team. This program ended in early March of 2024.
After my management team received highly positive feedback from the CT team I collaborated with, I was invited to take on the role of Ambassador scribe. In this position, I’ve helped train new scribes and support quality assurance for our ED scribe team, in addition to my regular scribing responsibilities.
I volunteered in the med-surg unit at Tucson Medical Center, where I assisted nurses and patient care technicians, and was also responsible for duties such as stocking the unit and answering call lights.
I was able to shadow Dr. Rush and Dr. Deatherage, Pathologists, at Banner University Medical Center, where I observed them process tissue specimens and learn how a pathology lab works.
I was able to shadow Dr. Janel Lloyd, a pediatrician, and observed her interactions with patients and their families.
