Summary

Being a lead is more than just knowing how to be a good leader. It's knowing how to serve others.

I believe a true leader puts the needs of the team first, and helps others succeed before themselves. A good leader builds trust and earns respect by living out the values they expect from others. At Nucor, I think one of the most important things a lead can do is to stay engaged with the team by encouraging and motivating individuals in safety and support while on shift.

Early in my career, I knew I wanted to be in leadership, and that hasn't changed to this day. Since starting at Nucor, I have expressed my aspirations to move up and feel like I have taken the right steps in order to achieve my goals. To me, it's not a matter of if I can be a lead; it's when. Just know that whether I am offered this position today or in years to come, I will not lose the motivation to better myself, or those around me.
