- Replace worn electrodes on welding machines as necessary.
- Perform manual or semi-automatic welding processes such as shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc and gas metal arc.
- Record production information on daily logs as directed by supervisor.

- Set up welding machines according to specifications by adjusting current and voltage; selecting correct filler rods and fluxes; and setting gas flow rate.
- Operate forklifts or cranes when moving large items from one location to another.
- Read blueprints, sketches and job orders to determine the specific welding requirements.
- Check for proper fit of parts before beginning any welding operation.
- Assist in laying out, cutting, fabricating and fitting of metal components prior to welding.
- Grind, file, buff and smooth welds using grinders, drills, wire brushes and other tools.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet standards or specifications.
- Provide assistance to other welders during complex projects involving multiple steps.
- Follow safety protocols at all times while operating equipment and working with hazardous materials.
