Homeland Response Force Logistics Planner

I have worked as a logistics planner for the Homeland Response Force for the past 5 years. Here have been my main duties during that time:


  • Coordinate and transport military vehicles and equipment between 20-60 miles at a time
  • Maintain thousands of emergency hazmat suits and pieces of equipment and track them by dates, sizes, and types to ensure they were replaced by me personally on time
  • Be knowledgeable about emergency capabilities to brief higher ups about where we would fall in during the process of a emergency or disaster.
  • Be apart of large planning meetings where we would be briefed about our duties and expectations changing and we needed to be very flexible to shift with the expectations of the government.


Other duties included the following:


  • Performed regular audits and assessments of logistics processes to identify weaknesses, improve supply chain operations and minimize waste.
  • Developed strategies to optimize utilization of available resources.
  • Managed loading, unloading, movement, and sorting of supplies.

FIRE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

  • Went to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training
  • Went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for 9 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, specific to my job in the Army
  • I received college credit and gained physical experience
  • I am a Forward Observer for the artillery of the Army
  • I am proficient in land navigation, map reading, hiking/ruck marching, calling for fire from artillery guns, and Basic Rifle Marksmanship (we used M-4’s in my training) Radio communication is also a large part of my job, and I know the phonetic alphabet and basic radio etiquette
  • In training we had to memorize how to disassemble and reassemble our rifles, and qualify at varying distances on the ranges while maintaining and cleaning our rifles constantly
  • As a U.S Soldier I was also taught basic medical aid to conduct on myself and individuals around me while keeping the mission as our main priority and being able to shoot, move, and communicate
  • My skills as a Boy Scout in my youth transferred over to basic training to help me survive almost any circumstances with the bare minimum essentials
  • I am a dedicated and motivated team member with the army fire support team and I am no stranger to hiking, long days, harsh weather, and adapting to poor circumstances while accomplishing the mission, whatever it may be, while having the best attitude I can

COR Duties & Job Description


Fuel


-Make sure daily report is sent out and be ready to sign daily fuel paperwork every day

-Coordinate Diesel and JET-A deliveries between the subcontractor and FLUOR contracting company

-Sign Diesel and JET-A receipts and FWD to the J4-1 logistics section 3 times a week

-Coordinate fuel samples between the J4-1 logistics section and FLUOR contracting company



Deliveries


-Coordinate with the FLUOR contracting company and the J4-1 logistics section to allocate space for deliveries of pallets in a very small operating base with extremely limited space.

-Check that the base security force and the contractors or sub-contractors were all on the same page for deliveries so that they went smoothly and weren't turned away to cost the government extra money.



Contracts & Services


-Review and be knowledgeable about all 23 active services and multiple contracts to ensure projects and activated services were operating smoothly between the U.S. government and the FLUOR contracting company

-Conduct inspections and quality checks of the services that the FLUOR contracting company was providing to ensure they were fulfilling their obligation to the U.S. government

-Audit all service orders that were submitted to the FLUOR contracting company by the tenants that lived on base to make sure they were being followed up with and tracked

-Track all density list movement for items that are being maintained by the FLUOR contracting company and remove items as needed



Projects


-Track progress of all current and future projects to send status updates to higher as needed

-Track the statuses of:

-LOTD's (Letters of Technical Direction from the U.S. Government)

-PPR's (Project Planning Requests)

-SOR's (Service Order Request Form)

-Reach out to the FLUOR contracting company to receive updates on projects or explanations of delays and issues that came up

-Review and understand timelines and ownership for each piece of all current and future projects



Internet


-Be available 24/7 for tenants to notify after the internet went down

-Reach out to subcontractor after internet issues to have them start troubleshooting (This obligation became my responsibility because the internet contract was directly between the U.S. government and the internet company. The FLUOR contracting company was not involved in this contract)

-Monitor troubleshooting status and speeds and quality of internet to ensure that the contractor was staying within the scope of the agreed upon contract
