As a FO1 I have had multiple experiences riding as IC for incident in my dept when officers were off for vacations and sick time. I have made scenes where I was the senior firefighter riding as LT for the day. During those calls I held myself to a higher accountability for the safety of my guys working under me and the safety of the pt. Most times as a FF I've relied on the skills of my officers to keep me safe while I help the pt. But when I was the officer I had to look at the picture as a whole not only my safety but that of my crew and bystanders as well. I feel like I have grown in my experiences to where I can now perform this role.
