As a referee, I am responsible for enforcing the Arena Sports rules and IFAB Laws of the Game to all players on the field, the bench, and any spectators. I am responsible for creating a positive, fun, and most importantly safe environment. - Prior to the games I need to communicate with management to ensure all players are up to date on payments and waiver signatures. - During the games I am responsible for clock management, recording all scoring and misconducts in order to maintain accurate statistics and track repeat offenders. - As an experienced referee, I also train new referees. First by demonstration, often times trainees will watch me referee a game or two. I will mentor and provide written evaluations for new referees after watching them ref any number of games. This process helps provide a constant growth in understanding and quality for our referees and provides a more positive experience overall for players and spectators.
Since 2012 I have been a referee. This is independent contract work. Refereeing has always been a passion of mine and has taught me a lot about work ethic and opportunity.
-A referee has lots of duties, and you earn more of them as you increase the level at which you officiate. Some of those duties include: -Becoming an expert in enforcing the Laws of the Game, as well as the Spirit of the Game in every match you referee.
-Always being prepared, both mentally and physically for anything that could happen during a match. This includes equipment, local rules of competition, familiarizing yourself with both teams, key players, potential problem players, coaches and team strategies, etc.
-Preparing and communicating with your assigned crew for the match, going over everything mentioned above.
-Showing up at least 1-2 hours before matches to prepare the field and warmup.
-Knowing how to deal with potential dissent, aggressiveness or violent conduct between players/coaches/referees.
-Reviewing the match both at halftime to make potential adjustments and again after to debrief, discuss how the game went, and review footage to improve.
-From 2012 to today, I have gone from refereeing 8 year olds at my local middle school, to competitive youth soccer tournaments in the summer, to traveling tournaments all over the country at the highest levels of youth soccer, to competitive adult soccer since 2020. I have refereed D1 college level players, to semi-professional clubs and Division 3 US Soccer Professional clubs in the region. And I am now one of the more well experienced/traveled and knowledgeable referees in the region (Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona).
-This level of growth has taken me in total thousands of games to accomplish, along with intense levels of training and review with some of the best referees and referee coaches that have ever lived. I have learned and been mentored by the very best and it has allowed me to become the referee I am now. The skills I have gotten from this include but are not limited to the immense amount of hard work it takes to be successful in a very highly intense, challenging, high pressure and competitive environment. I've learned to take in everything from the people that were there before you. We referees have a saying which is that every great tool you have, you got from another referee. Utilizing the skills of the people around you is one of the best ways to learn and be successful. My journey in soccer has given me skills to be successful in any work environment.
- I was a lot manager here during my last 2 years of high school. Lot managers are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized lot of over 400 cars.
- I organize all the vehicles by display, type of car, new/used, color, price, and setup our nicest cars outside and inside of our show room. I often prepared very expensive vehicles with full details to setup for photos in front of our building or inside for the company to use for their website or other advertising.
- Additionally, I was responsible for preparing any vehicle that was sold. This included filling the car with gas, doing a full exterior wash and interior detail. This is a very important part of our job because I was responsible for providing a pristine vehicle to all of our customers who paid for a car. Quality service is what maintains our reputation as a dealership and keeps customers returning in the future as well as providing our staff with new business opportunities.
