Dedicated EMT-Basic skilled in patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, and direct patient care. Experience in high-volume emergency medical environments ensures readiness to deliver quality patient care and thorough documentation.
Second to my career at Willimantic Fire Department, my Per Diem EMT-Basic position in Brooklyn has furthered my skills and education in EMS. Being that Brooklyn is a rural department detached from any major cities creates longer transport times to hospitals, lengthened patient contact, and more need for emergency medical interventions; furthering my skill set and knowledge as an EMT.
Firefighter/EMT employed at a busy, fast paced, single station department running approximately 5,000-6,000 calls a year. Working at a department of this caliber not only hones team work skills; but also individual critical thinking skills. Line Firefighter/EMTs run approximately 1,500 calls a year individually, approximately 80% of that number being emergency medical calls. This volume of calls and patient contact makes me proficient at not only emergency medical care within my scope of practice; but also patient charting, bed side manner, and an understanding of the healthcare system.
